Sauna in the main bathroom or in the basement?

Thanks for the info. Klafs is one of the manufacturers we have on our radar anyway.
The 30,000€ was simply the maximum budget I had planned for it. But it definitely doesn't mean that we have to exhaust the budget. It's also nice if we get a high-quality alternative for less.

Due to the large floor area, the sauna actually fits on any floor.
We have now first communicated the upper floor to the architect as the preferred location. From there, we could also realize a relaxation room with a view of the fields and access to the balcony.
Our basement will also not be a typical basement, but except for the technical/utility room and storage room, proper living space. So with underfloor heating, parquet flooring, large windows, ventilation, etc. Among other things, a fitness area, a sewing room, and another office are to be realized there.

While reading the thread, I kept thinking: big house, big basement. Why not have the basement on one side with patio doors and access to a lower ground floor terrace with a barrel, whirlpool, and small stairs to the garden. And then something like this comes up:

I see the sauna in the basement, next to it fitness and co. Roof terraces may have their charm, also good for a sundowner, but I only see a sauna in the upper floor in exceptional cases, if there is a direct exit to the garden. I combine sauna with a winding and illuminated path in the dark, maybe then nighttime bathing in the (whirlpool) pool and many tactile and relaxing surfaces – but not with an above-ground roof terrace. If the house is still being planned and money is no object, you can play with open spaces and stairs/galleries indoors, so that everyone gets their money’s worth and basement/lower ground floor, ground floor, and upper floor are connected even outside a staircase – insofar I wouldn’t even think in terms of floors or rooms, but see such wellness areas as connections between spaces. And possibly the sewing room would be better placed upstairs than the bedroom in the basement/lower ground floor?!

Thank you for your thoughts. Much of it sounds very interesting. We currently have the bedroom in the basement in our existing house and consciously do not want to do that anymore. On the other hand, we can well imagine combining fitness and wellness in the basement. We have discussed with the architect that we would like different design proposals in this regard.

Exactly, let yourself be given suggestions and then decide how it feels better for you.

We also initially wanted to combine fitness in the basement with a sauna. We have large terrace doors leading to a small light well, from there a staircase would lead up to the garden. So that would have been a good option, it was even our first preference and instruction to the architect. He then showed us a design of a sauna in the bathroom and in the end we decided on that because I am not really in the fitness room as regularly as I should be ;))) and because we liked the privacy of the parents' area. That is really our space and there we have our peace and our retreat with a sauna. But I think there is no right or wrong, you have to do it in a way that feels right for you.

Small fun fact: We also have a sewing room in the basement...
