With a controlled residential ventilation system, you don't have to either, since the supply and exhaust pipes are separate and thanks to the filters in the system, the air is even cleaner than with window ventilation. My wife has severe hay fever from grass pollen. For that reason alone, we decided on a controlled residential ventilation system.

Under no circumstances should you do without controlled residential ventilation in the bedroom... This is exactly where it offers the greatest advantage. Windows closed in winter and waking up in the morning without suffocating...

Another example: before going to bed, the CO2 level in our case is about 500 ppm, that is, an unused room with the system running (additionally opening the window practically does not lower the value further). When waking up with the system on, it is about 700 ppm. With the system off and the window closed, it is 1500 and more! And you notice this difference extremely when breathing, it is a huge difference between pleasant and disgusting...

You only have to do a little bed exercise in the evening... After that, the CO2 level quickly rises from 500 to 1300, but the ventilation system ensures that it quickly settles again. Of course, you can also ventilate by shock for 10 minutes afterwards, especially nice in winter.

Hello,

interesting thread, we are still sorting through the offers from the various GCs and usually there is naturally no central system included, I hadn’t really had that on my radar until now. Our current favorite uses Regel-air® PLUS (it’s somehow screwed onto the windows). Does anyone know if that is effective or sensible? I will definitely inquire about the central ventilation everywhere as well.

in the rental apartment of the mother-in-law, they are also installed. In the utility room, there is an exhaust fan. The system is better than nothing, but in new buildings I would (or have) only install a central solution.

I am curious. What all comes to light there?

Please be more specific. In what condition are the pipes whose air you breathe for several years?
And how do you see it with water pipes? How do you assess the condition regarding missing accompanying water substances there? In contrast to controlled residential ventilation, there is no continuous volume flow here, keyword stagnant water.

This is a window rebate ventilation. In other words, "we make the windows as airtight as possible and then... yes, then we cut slots back into them so that air can pass through again. You can easily calculate how much volume can get through there... just compare the cross-section of all the window rebate ventilators in a room with the usual ~100mm valve. Then it should be clear what works and what doesn’t.
