In the controlled residential ventilation with heat recovery, the outside air is preheated, whereas in a pure ventilation system it is not.

That means, in principle, that the higher heating capacity is necessary to achieve the same comfort. For me, that only means a pure cost factor that differs between the two systems, or am I wrong?

That's true, if you sit at the open window at minus 5 degrees, you just need to turn the heating up a bit and then you don't notice the cold air anymore.

That's exactly the point. I am well aware that such behavior is not environmentally conscious. However, I would not classify this aspect under comfort. Let me try with a different formulation: Are there other advantages of a ventilation system with heat recovery besides reclaiming the heat, compared to a system without heat recovery?

Sorry, but that's complete nonsense... the architect should maybe get informed first before making such statements.

The advantage is obvious... the heat stays inside the house, so the heat generator (and it doesn't matter whether it's oil/gas/air/earth etc.) has to heat less...

Which of course then positively reflects in your wallet.

Please try sitting in front of an open window at -5 degrees. Do you seriously think a turned-up heater can compensate for the loss of comfort caused by the open window?

There's a draft, it's cold, you catch a cold, etc. With a controlled residential ventilation system, the air exchange rate is lower, which reduces the effect.

But ice-cold air still enters the house.

My contribution was meant ironically...
