From an energy perspective, controlled residential ventilation is nonsense. It's purely about comfort. Not much can go wrong with it. And if it does, replacement is inexpensive. The expensive part of controlled residential ventilation is never the device itself, but the pipes and installation. Prices range between 7000 and 20,000 euros. Depending on the region and equipment.

I find the fundamental idea of the OP already wrong. I do not install something in my house just because it is subsidized, but because I am convinced of it. Either I want a central ventilation system or not, I am happy about the subsidy and I am happy to pay the difference between the investment and the subsidy. Regarding ongoing costs: Filter change every two months (one can also leave them in longer, but due to the property conditions + a lot of construction dust in our new development area): 20 € per change Electricity costs: 50 W per hour = 438 kWh

I can cut the filter mats myself, then I pay a maximum of €20-30 for G5 filters in about 2m2 and they last 2 years.

Same here... why should you pay 10 times more, the mat remains the same. But yes, I have also bought cut pieces before, but only because they were price neutral compared to the fabric by the meter.

Thank you for the tip, I will look into self-manufacturing the filters. Do you also do that for the supply air filter? I have two filters in my system, a G4 filter for the exhaust air (mat) and an F7 filter for the supply air (filter box).

We use the Vitovent 300 W from Viessmann. 20 G4 filters cost 30 euros there. Ready-made, cut to fit. And that easily lasts for more than 2 years. So filters are really not the cost factor.
