Sure. You call the general contractor. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the central ventilation system; decentralized also brings in fresh air and involves much less effort in planning and implementation.

After some internal back and forth, I came to the decision to retrofit decentralized devices. It is not because I am not convinced by a central system, but because of the finite construction budget. =(

I didn’t have a controlled residential ventilation system so far, but I will install one in the new house. In another context, I had frequent contact with what I consider a very good and also modern-thinking architect. He explained to me in passing on this topic that he has meanwhile tended more towards decentralized ventilation systems. We didn’t discuss it in depth because at the time this was not the main reason for the conversation, but for that reason I would have felt just as comfortable with this decision, even if some other opinions here might confuse you. Go for it!

First of all, congratulations on the ventilation! However, with the decentralized version, you absolutely have to keep in mind that unfortunately it has considerable aesthetic drawbacks. Before deciding on the decentralized option, you should search Google Images for "Haus dezentrale Lüftung Fotos" to get an idea of what you are choosing. And the fans are also noticeably louder than the central version – especially regarding the keyword "night's rest"...

Thank you very much for the feedback! That definitely gives me courage. =)

After reading all the other posts, one got the feeling that without a central system, one was the literal Antichrist or was building a construction ruin. =D

You can find me soon in the threads about decentralized systems. =)

Isn't that the same thread where you keep reading "... I built myself a nice new house and then perforated the entire facade like Swiss cheese so that it buzzes and hums around the clock ..."? ;)
