That’s how I understood it too, even if I can’t express myself that well. Of the houses I know, some have balconies, some don’t. Even those without balconies almost all have the living area upstairs. Even without a balcony, it is shady in some configurations there. And then you can also have one and enjoy the view from the balcony.

It doesn’t have to make sense to you. Some people just don’t like it. Even if it is propagated here in the forum as the be-all and end-all. I also don’t think it’s the same. I tried to explain that above. And if you enjoy schlepping crates, then all is well. I wouldn’t be up for a hand truck, but I’ve often had to push them and bikes and kids up and down hills enough. The 4m Thuja is probably not allowed anywhere, nasty neighbors you don’t want to mess with because eventually every nonsense goes through the lawyer, also exist in Bavaria.

Your statements are very contradictory and also do not reflect the property of the TE.

Valley side, hollow, none of that exists.
Just because you don’t want to carry anything up or down doesn’t mean suggestions or criticism are wrong.

That is practically what one should do and what the majority suggests: in the basement (for you cellar) the common room (for you summer kitchen) with utility room on the same level.
The days of good Sunday living rooms and a second kitchen in a basement within the thermal envelope are probably over due to costs and the Renewable Energy Act.

The running up and down was already mentioned as a counterargument before me.
For me, it’s especially about the generalization here. A common room in the basement is often a dark hole. I have truly experienced quite a few dark basements on slopes, even with floor-to-ceiling windows. In many cases, it simply cannot be equated with the ground floor on flat land. Most home builders know why they don’t want their common room there.

Maybe you all have looked at photos of the surroundings and therefore know that in this case, a bright basement can be assumed. That no non-falling oak tree blocks the light, no neighbor’s thuja steals the light from the side windows. All well and good. Just don’t generalize it to such an extent.

But we do have a well-submitted site plan here. South is at the bottom of the plan

And the basement then becomes a dark unit if I build a terrace on the ground floor level that is sensibly usable. I consider terraces sensible if they are at least 3.5 to 4 meters deep.

Those who contribute here have a very well-developed ability to imagine 2D in 3D. And they do this by assessing the site plan of the property. Such things are considered individually by the users I know and not generally. However, you generalize by bringing in the cellars you know and imposing your ideas on the suggestions. For even more individuality, it is by the way highly desired that the OP provides appropriate drawings and photos. So if you want to address individuality in the argumentation, it would be fairer to request corresponding information from the OP rather than criticize respondents and advisers.
