If you can still get the collective agreement. New company, new "luck," I switched from a collective agreement to a company agreement - 20-25%. Companies bound by collective agreements are scarce in the East.

Those were just a few examples. There is a nice overview showing that the vast majority had such agreements. Off topic: Why do people make such a change nowadays?

The pure settlements in 2024 say little, I think. One should rather look at the period since 2022. What use is 6% against inflation in 2024 if there were no increases in 2022 and 2023 and inflation was high in those two years. Then you need the 6% just to catch up a little with purchasing power.

It would be somehow nice if a distinction were made between inflation and price level.

- It is correct that the jumps in price levels due to Corona and the Ukraine war have not been caught up.

- It is incorrect that we see wage agreements below inflation.

- It is nonsensical to measure inflation by gold or stocks. Neither are consumer, investment goods or services. They are savings vehicles. If these were converted into purchasing power, their value measured in money would decrease and vice versa.

A quick note on property tax. We (my wife and I) received the new property tax assessments for our plots/properties in January. All in Bavaria (Bavaria has its own calculation). The condo in the multi-family house became 30% cheaper. The three-family house on a large plot became 50% more expensive. The undeveloped plot doubled in price. For the undeveloped plot, a letter came yesterday with a changed multiplier, so the doubling was reversed. The undeveloped plot will be classified as a residential building after completion this year, starting next year. Let's see what comes out of that. All properties are in different municipalities. So different multipliers.
