A nice detour to our house-building topic: Money essentially comes into existence through lending.

Of course. That is why I did not address you personally and explicitly.

If every tenth citizen would only spend 2 evenings a year attending a public council or committee meeting and expressing their position on site, fundamental changes would occur. Not more is needed at all. In a town with 5000 inhabitants and a school committee, with 10 meetings, that would already be so many people that no hall in such a small town could hold them, and local politics would very quickly implement the direct wishes.
The politicians we can elect at the federal level almost all started locally. We can choose them if we support them locally, demand from them, and treat them respectfully. Too few do this, and accordingly, we deserve whoever governs us.

How our property tax is used and its amount can be influenced by us more strongly than many think. That is my message on this topic.

I know, I am familiar with the tax procedure and my mother is also not unversed in this. But there are plenty of people who have no knowledge in this regard. And it doesn’t make sense to hire a specialist just because of the amounts involved.
The property tax assessment notice probably cannot be completely suspended either, because municipalities would become completely illiquid given the volume of objections (whether due to constitutional compliance or other reasons).
When I was at the tax office, we always calculated the impact of the objection in advance and applied for a suspension of enforcement for the difference. But that is difficult when there is a completely different tax calculation for developed and undeveloped land. That is not calculable for the average person. At most, the difference compared to the previous notice would make sense as a suspension of enforcement, provided the city agrees to it.

Our municipality has apparently really tried to be revenue-neutral. We will pay a little less (about 10 or 20€ per year) and my parents and sister in the same municipality also only have small differences compared to before. An overall overview of where it increased or decreased would be interesting.

Received the new calculation of the property tax today. The assessment rate was reduced from 700 to 320%, with the current assessment amount we now pay only €285 per year.

With us, it was a reduction from 450 to 350%. However, the amount increased from €260 to €380.

But at least one could send a confirmation of receipt with a note about the suspension. And no, with us, everyone must pay first according to the non-final new notice.
