Many builders submit too vague inquiries to construction companies, where the construction company would then have several variants to choose from in terms of what it offers. It usually decides on the more frequently chosen variant according to the current customer trend. With approximate price parity, there is a fear that the competitor will appear more attractive if they offer anthracite-coated windows and one’s own company offers white ones. In this sense, the hipped roof has the better mainstream acceptance factor ;-) and is therefore offered, even though it is more expensive to manufacture because it is more complex.

That is a misconception I initially fell for as well. Due to the roof surfaces tapering towards the ridge, you have less space.
