Hipped roof - ideal slope?

It looks like we are building a house with a hip roof.

If you like it and it fits the house, fine - but here the real motive is probably pure distrust of flat roofs.

We prefer a blunter pitch angle. As here in the direct opposite position at the pink house. The more frequently encountered variant is probably the pitch shown at the house on the left.

The house on the left is probably 30° and the house on the right 22°.

The architect already said that the variant with the blunter angle is the more expensive variant.

That is not generally true, the construction also plays a role.

Here it is purely about a slanted lid without attic space requirements. Just with the maintenance hatch you are creating a bigger complication and a bigger leak point than you could ever expect with a flat roof, but for some their misfortune is also their paradise.

If you like it and it fits the house, fine - but here pure flat roof mistrust is probably the actual motive.

A flat roof would also be okay, but with the current design, we both simply prefer a hipped roof. The fact that it is also cheaper does not play the decisive role.

We have a 22-degree roof like that. The floor is even still usable there.

And don’t get crazy about the degree angle and photovoltaics. The yield is just a bit lower then.

We do not have a hip roof but a gable roof over our bungalow, but we have also given a lot, a lot of thought to our roof pitch and created many sketches. The first reason was the appearance. The best feeling was at 25 degrees. In the later planning, we even went up to 26 degrees. That gave us a few centimeters under the ridge in the attic. We still find it perfect today!

My impression: I find the roof on the pink house too flat for a two-story city house. Somehow the proportions are not right. I like the roof on the brown city house better. Best regards, Steffi.

Steffi, can you estimate roughly how many degrees the two roofs I posted have? Then I can grasp it better.
