Or you plan the hallway with enough space ;).
With that principle, I would constantly be looking for shoes.

You wipe the floor in the entrance area with the ball gown because the high heels have to go into the general slipper closet ???

I have neither a ball gown nor high heels;)
But at some point I would take the hiking boots out of the trunk because I need the space in the trunk and then forget them on the next hike.

Exactly! Or something similar… Rubber boots are in our trunk. Still: with our German weather, I currently have two pairs of winter shoes next to two pairs of transitional shoes next to four pairs of sneakers in various colors in the front line in use. My husband feels the same way about jackets ;)

I always plan with enough space, but I conscientiously avoid accumulating it in key areas prone to clutter such as the front door and stair landing. An 11ant forgets nothing ;-) For furniture transports, the loading area is cleared, but there is also a reinstallation routine for that. It’s all a question of the system. You can practice the program line "DIN EN ISO 9000 put hiking boots back" ;-) The same applies to keeping pathways clear. In my mind’s eye, yellow hatched no-parking zones belong near a front door, and only ONE shoe rack is tolerated accordingly. Most accidents happen in the household because there are no safety officers there.

So we have reflected once again and thought about what we really want and also need. And we (really our opinion) do not like 2m Pax cabinets in the hallway. And we don't need them either. We want a bench and a cabinet, and we really have shoes in a shoe cabinet and the others as 11ant writes, where they are needed. Many thanks for the lively discussion! :) So the hallway suits us as it is.
