Thank you for your comments, we have already enlarged the light strips to 88 x 200, but are still waiting for the new drawings. In children's room 2, we are reconsidering a "normal" window. The house is located 8 meters from the edge of the forest. That means approximately 30-meter-high pines. Unfortunately, not much sun gets through there. The budget was the pure budget for the house without additional sampling etc. We already have the offer from the builder as well as from several comparison companies over this. We are also aware that significantly more costs will arise during the house construction and have factored this in.

Is a green forester's lodge with a gable roof more fitting? What would you consider the "right" house for a forest edge?

But if little light already comes into the house from the forest side, why then plan the remaining windows to provide so little light?

Because the forest side represents the south / southeast direction, we have planned large windows here. The sun will not appear in the northwest, so smaller light strips were planned here; as mentioned, these have already been changed to a height of 88, mostly with a width of two meters. I do not consider this small at all. In children's room 2, we are still reconsidering other windows. Apparently, we did not pay attention to the fact that these are only light strips.

Even on the north side, large windows let plenty of light into the rooms. Just not glaringly bright. Window bands at 155 sill height will feel like a basement room and let in even less light. At my height of 168, I would actually only be looking at the lower window frame and have zero view.

Well, you really have to put "enlarge" in quotation marks here, an adult sitting down has their view fully on the edge of the windowsill, and for a primary school child such a window is completely above head height. Changing from 76 to 88 doesn’t make much difference, the comment "window like in the basement" or even "cellar window" still fits perfectly. And especially with expected little light coming in, I wouldn’t want to spare any more. These are really windows for bathrooms where otherwise you’d end up on a display plate in the shower. In German prisons, such windows are no longer allowed. Just tape over your current windows to simulate that.

The forester’s house Falkenau looks good in Küblach, you don’t have to copy that. But a townhouse right at the edge of the forest already borders on a "challenge". Just a touch more "discretion".
