By the way, a quick question. What is a usual gift for guests when you don't know the expenses? Is 100€ too little? Is 200€ too much? I just can't estimate that....
You don’t decide that only when you are on site and see how many people are there, what kind of location it is, and how much schnapps was served :D
Oh, and regarding big celebrations: some people MAY not even WANT that, no matter how much it costs. I find such parties absolutely creepy. The version I prefer is just the two of us at the registry office... I don’t marry to get married, but to be married afterwards.
Right, some people don’t want a big wedding. We didn’t want one either.
And then came Corona. Both the birth of our little one, as well as the baptism, our civil wedding – all in the absolute smallest or no frame at all. That’s why we decided at the end of 2022 to have a big wedding, and then properly for us (!!!).
Regarding guest gifts – we usually give at least 150 euros for both of us, but it also depends a bit on how the wedding is organized and how close you are to the bridal couple. If it’s “just” a barbecue in the garden, I would also find less appropriate than if someone hosts a whole day at an event location. But apparently that’s only usual for us.
