I always find that saying funny too.
You believe it as a young person. You believe it exactly until you feel your firstborn child sleeping evenly breathing on your own chest. That day was the first time I truly felt what this "happiness" really is, which everyone always talks about.

Funny. I was once (crazy story) invited to a millionaire's wedding. The daughter was the bride and had a dispute with the wealthy dad because he dared to say the wedding as a whole shouldn't cost more than 1 million. It was barely a few years ago, and by now they have different last names again. :oops:

Who is surprised? The celebration is probably sometimes a status symbol like "my house my car my boat." It's the same with people who marry on a special date. All the marriages in my city that were made on 8.8.88 have ended in divorce.

Thanks :D I already felt a bit guilty while reading, as our amounts were higher than the ones mentioned here. But since we had saved that money ourselves in addition (to the regular savings rate), we thought it was quite okay. Prices are also exploding for weddings. We got married last year (luckily we still had Corona under control) and know that both the venue and the photo/videographer had a 15% price increase (on already very high prices).
