Are recessed lights feasible with HaloX boxes?

I can only speak about the Basic 5-watt lamps (dimmable!). The springs pull on a drywall plate as if there were no tomorrow! I am already afraid when I have to remove them again...

exactly what I mean. In the Halox box, you still have the cable for connecting and a terminal box. All of that must be stored in the Halox box and presses against the luminaire from above or the side. If the spring is not strong enough, you need a lot of patience to stow everything in a way that it somehow works. It cost me a lot of nerves. Make sure that the box opening is cut out to a maximum of 7 cm. Then you have all options.

Recommending a manufacturer is difficult because with recessed lights, taste also plays a role. Additionally, not all lights are available in all color variants. I finally had to choose Paulmann lights because my electrician cut the boxes to 9 cm in some cases, and Paulmann was the only manufacturer I found that covers 9 cm and was available in the desired color and specification. I still regret it today because they really look cheap.

Really, they don’t look high-quality but rather cheap? Well, I wanted to get a few anyway to really be able to judge the look and quality (thanks to EU return policy for online goods).

But your problem with too little space in the box would probably be completely solved if you use the 180 box. There should really be enough space there for the cables and junction box, right?

And even said that the springs are supposed to be extremely strong? I’ll order a few Paulmann recessed spotlights.

That will probably depend on the recessed spotlight. For the one I presented in post #1 (Nova version), you will probably have to go towards 83 mm for the box opening (see attachments). The 70 mm you suggested will then not be nearly enough. Maybe you really mean a different one? Which one do you have specifically? Maybe also "just" the base version, which is why they might look so cheap to you?

I find the one you showed super beautiful! As mentioned, I had to find one that covers 9cm. The selection is limited, and I had to take a cheap-looking Paulmann spotlight. In my opinion, nobody needs 180mm cans. In the kitchen, I have spotlights with really strong holding force, so you don’t need to fiddle around in the can with cables and clamp boxes. They just get pushed in. You can always cut out more once you’re sure which spotlight you want to use. Just order a few for viewing, also with different color temperatures. For me, 2700K was way too yellow, which is why I switched to 4000K in the hallway.

However, a 100mm can will probably cause problems because the side spring feet touch the can wall and do not reach the lid/ceiling. See the discussed issue on page 1.

I will order all the recessed spots without bulbs so that I can decide on site in the house whether to order 4000 Kelvin or 2800 Kelvin, intensity (lumens), etc., for all the spots in room X.
