I am confused. You write that you want a kitchen island, but also 4 seats in the kitchen. In your drawing, I think only the island is visible, but with stools – no dining table. Can you describe that a bit more precisely? Do you want an island with a counter and bar stools? You cannot sit at a proper kitchen island.
The length of a table is calculated roughly like this: per person, there should be at least 60 cm. The depth of the table is commonly about 90 cm minimum. For 8 people including seated at the narrow ends, that would be at least 3x60 = 180 cm x 90 cm. To be able to push the chairs back and get up, there should be a distance of at least 80 cm around the table. These are all minimum dimensions. Therefore, I would round up and plan your dining table as 2 m x 1 m and the space requirement as 4 m x 3 m. You don't have to fill that space with the table all the time. Usually, there is an extendable table that only needs the space for special occasions.
