Will the neighboring property to the east still be developed or what is there?

The property is already developed and right in front of our planned terrace will be the neighbor’s carport. It’s not a big deal, but yes, you’re right, a south-west orientation does make more sense. That way, you can at least still enjoy the sun after work.

What do I want to store there?

I want to have the freezer and a shelf there, with a few boxes standing on the floor. Just as suggested, it could work.

Open entrance
I think it simply creates a visual axis right into the garden. Of course, it shouldn’t go over the sofa. In my opinion, it also helps that the cloakroom is a bit sideways in a niche.

A balcony in a single-family house has exactly zero point zero utility.

Everyone claims that. Well, a French balcony can also be stylish and also serve the additional purpose of "quickly beating out the bed" well. Just inconvenient if that is done facing the street.

Freezer doesn't work in your design. In the one from Kaho maybe, you have to try that. Those things take up quite a bit of space. You've wanted a large side-by-side with a freezer section for a long time, then peel an egg and treat yourself. Otherwise, the pantry has to be adjusted. After that, you can still consider, if necessary, how high the priority of direct access is.

Really draw in how you imagine it. Then you'll notice where it gets tricky. Then literally play Tetris and shift.

a French balcony

A French balcony is not really a balcony per se and accordingly (exaggeratedly speaking) does not cause any costs. Because if you plan a floor-to-ceiling window on the upper floor, you need a fall protection anyway. Sure, it can also be executed differently. But a French balcony is simply the path of least resistance if the entire window is supposed to open.

What is meant by this? (initiative)

I meant that you should think more about the location of the rooms (cardinal directions). But it could also be that you just haven't given us the information (see questionnaire) and we are guessing here for no reason.

Amount for the balcony

Balcony is not a must. Especially not if it is that expensive.

Bay windows are, as Grandpa Wilhelm would have said, "as unnecessary as a goiter," or as already noted, not responsive on the intellectual level because they operate on the emotional level. Objectively, they are relatively expensive – after all, the airspace was not carried over from the initial draft – and (as regular readers already know from ) indeed come with height complications at the terrace door threshold when you want to enter them.

Overall, I most closely agree with the conclusion of not getting hung up on this detail: I would at least omit the balcony on top of it, and generously even consider foregoing the entire floor plan protrusion. You can make an open-plan room look nice or structured / "zoned" in other ways.
