I agree... both. That fits. And at 10 meters wide, it is spacious inside as well. Same here. But it is probably a backup kitchen, and if I were to build again, I would have one too. But with a proper door and not one where no one can get stuck with a baking tray in their hands. I would probably split this room into two; AB would also make sense. The cellar is somehow useless, but it lends itself due to the hillside location. Possibly, the parents’ or children’s area could be placed in the cellar, thereby creating a small roof terrace for the non-overlooked view, which has been mentioned several times here and which I do not see so easily in the garden.

You are great!
Thank you!

I will try to answer all the points below:

I think you are right: we will omit the pantry and make the study on the ground floor bigger.
And yes – bullseye – it was meant as a spare parents' bedroom.
(In case family planning – which we humans never really have fully under control – is not yet completed).
Originally, we had actually hoped for one more room in the attic.

That is why the (perhaps naive?) idea came up to possibly create more opportunities in the attic especially by increasing width.

Change requests on our part for the current draft (before this valuable discussion here):
- Possibly still a small shower bathroom in the attic (makes sense when the kids are teenagers, right?)
- And maybe move room 1 to the west? Instead of a balcony? (Just an idea)
- Then the balcony on the covered terrace? With access from both rooms See photo
- Basement “more light shafts”

Basement:
We “need” the two rooms in the basement as an additional study and a hobby room for the kids.

Yes, we have dropped the granny flat (also due to the justified criticism here in the forum).

Garage: Yes – the driveway is not ideal – but ok – and we see little possibility for change.

Thank you all!

Looking forward to more thoughts!!

Best regards ✊

One more polite question:
How do I know which state building code (so WHICH VERSION!) applies to us...?

Does the old version mentioned in the development plan (see my photos from the beginning) from the seventies apply, or the current one?

This might possibly be relevant because of "airspace" and "full storey regulation."
My architect couldn't tell me clearly....
Best regards and thanks!

Yes, at least the regulations concerning planning law. In BW and NRW, the case law is clear.

I would never ever give up the pantry – even if it is just small. I now have it with direct access from the kitchen and it is simply worth its weight in gold. Quickly putting something down, I have the freezer cabinet in there, so I don’t need a *** freezer compartment in the regular fridge, I have a shelf where my Soda Club, my toaster, and our bread box stand, always ready to use but out of sight.
In addition, I have collectors for waste paper and plastic there, as well as a box for old glass – open the door and the stuff is gone.
And visually, we have integrated it into the kitchen so that it doesn’t stand out:

Here’s a look into our pantry:

Next to the freezer cabinet is the shelf, below that are the collectors (now bigger) – baseboards are still missing in the picture.

Here with the door closed – integrated into the kitchen front:

The kitchen should finally be finished next week, then I will take pictures again.

But without a pantry? Never ever!
