So I think at the hardware store with the O it was about the middle back then. There is always laminate for 5-6€, but also some around 30€. We got ours cheaper than the price listed because we bought a lot. So the 18 (or maybe it was 17 or so) was on the sign, but we didn’t pay that. It was only given here as a reference. And of course it was already 5 years ago. I would, for example, buy reduced in this case, even if it might not be the first choice. For the short time, that is also okay. Back then, I also paid attention to the total thickness as well as the thickness of the wear layer. That would not be so important to me in this case, it can also be a millimeter thinner sometimes. For us, it was intended as a permanent solution and therefore more important. There is also potential for savings here.

Just glanced roughly: Online in the mentioned hardware store, the range is currently from 4.99-28.99€/m2.

I really wonder too that vinyl is more expensive than laminate. I have already found quite a bit of laminate for little money. I am really leaning towards a cheap product because, after all, we won't be living there for very long in the end. Vinyl looked so easy to cut in our house. It felt like they just scored it and snapped it, done. I hope it is just as easy with laminate. Is sound insulation under laminate mandatory?

Technically not, but I would do it anyway. Especially in older buildings the floor is still 100% even, so that helps a bit. Technically correct would be leveling compound but you don't want that much effort.

When looking for affordable laminate, I keep coming across "Haro", "Hori", "Kronotex", and "Meister". Has anyone here ever installed laminate from any of these brands and can share their experience? I sometimes find individual floors from these brands heavily discounted. Can I assume that their quality / ease of installation is comparable to other floors from the brand, or are there also significant differences within the brand? Then there is a shop called "Floor24" that offers laminate cheaply. However, it has no rating system and seems to sell private labels, so I hardly get any assessment of how good the goods are. Does anyone know products from that shop? I have seen that Tedox, for example, also offers laminates below the magic 10€ threshold, but these are generally rated rather mediocre. Therefore, I would probably want to exclude them.

Unfortunately no experience with the aforementioned brands. But generally regarding heavily discounted branded products. This happens repeatedly during assortment changes and is not an indicator of poorer quality (not even within the brand portfolio) but rather a reflection of the limited storage space at (major) retailers and manufacturers. So a good opportunity. Only that you then simply cannot start next year to get another package if you want to fix the undiscovered orange juice damage or the consequences of the kid used Mom’s drill event...

Well, that would really be secondary for us. If I wanted to be completely safe, I could buy one more package. But our whole scope is only about 1.5 years +/- a few months. Therefore, the heavily discounted brand product would probably be a good choice for us.
