Interesting topic. I had also looked at various click vinyls and found them pretty cool. However, I just can't get out of my head that I would then have PVC in the house again, and I actually didn't want that. Just because of the word "Designboden" to pay a premium over the proven laminate seemed kind of stupid to me. Then I looked at today's laminate floors and have to say that I, when those things are installed, can't see any visual difference. And if the floor is laid professionally and correctly, nothing should happen. I feel somehow more comfortable without PVC in the floor. But it's all in the head. And if I don't like the laminate in 1 year, then there will be a new one... Easy

Interruptions in the floor, as is usually the case with doors, must be taken into account anyway. It will not be 20 meters for us either, but just over 10 meters on one side.

Why glue? As far as I know, the Planeo-Isocore vinyls are only suitable for laying, not for gluing.

That is not entirely correct. Joints in the screed only need to be transferred to the top layer if it is fully glued, and only then if they are genuine movement joints. So-called false joints (trowel cuts) are to be sealed with resin. With floating installation, you can lay over movement joints because the screed slab can move independently from the top layer. However, manufacturers restrict this in the case of floating installation at doorways, because different climatic conditions in the individual rooms are assumed. As for Isocore, the manufacturer allows a continuous area of up to about 250 sqm! Several adjoining rooms may also be laid without separation. So no joint is necessary even at doors.

Correct. Isocore must not be glued over the entire surface! I meant that the underlay is already glued over the entire surface on the plank. This gives me a - small - thermal advantage with underfloor heating. When underlays are laid loosely, there is "calculatively" always a minimal air layer between the underlay and vinyl. And air is known to be the best thermal insulation. But this advantage is of course small. I only mentioned it for the sake of completeness....

Hello Farilo, the price difference is not due to the word "Designbelag" but of course due to the significant advantages over laminate (quieter, warmer underfoot, easier to maintain, more resistant, more durable, more application areas, ...).
The ecological aspect is naturally also a factor. I personally also prefer natural products made from real wood like parquet. The HDF board of laminate is only about 85% wood. The rest are binders and additives. But certainly ecologically better than vinyl, no question at all!!
Best regards, Wieli
