Bathroom redesign extra cheap & washing machine connection

I just noticed: This weird faucet doesn’t have any shut-off valves. It’s just this part, you can’t turn it off separately. If I change this part, would I then have to turn off the main water valve somewhere in the basement? Is it even possible to put another fixture on there?

Of course it is! You already answered the question of "how" yourself ;) Find the main water valve and turn off the water. Unscrew your wall faucet, insert the mentioned valve in between, and screw it back on.

Maybe I’ll just buy an adapter to connect the washing machine to that faucet?

Uhh :) What exactly does the "simple adapter" change about the whole procedure? You still have to turn off the water, and in the end, you just won’t have a faucet on your washbasin :)

Oh, you’re probably right, I didn’t think of that. I assumed normal angle valves. Personally, I would find it too "unsafe" and very suboptimally solved (if such adapters exist) to do without the sink when you could have a proper solution for 15€. It only takes opening and closing the main valve twice.

Exactly. My sister said that the last plumber who was there apparently had more trouble closing the main valve than when he wanted to replace the angle valves in the bathroom. I don’t know the exact reasons for that.
