Well, some people build a house to improve certain things. The advantage of underfloor heating is not just the feeling underfoot in winter. The advantage, especially in a small house, is the additional space gained for furniture. The smaller the house, the more underfloor heating you should have, actually.

But if you are modest about it and want to be modest, that's okay. And honestly: You are so young, no one knows today what you want, can, and will do in 20 years. Upgrade possibilities for life do not die

Yes, we are getting floorboards. In the living-dining room, upstairs in the hallway, and in the other bedrooms. In the 342k, only half of the actual costs are taken into account for that. We still have a little 5k buffer, either we’ll use that or scrape together the money. It’s not like we don’t save monthly. We don’t have big expenses; we just only started saving this year. We also don’t pay much for the installation, since it’s a good friend from whom we will also buy the floorboards. Of course, no oak tongue-and-groove boards, oiled and brushed three times and so on.

The “we’ve always done it that way” I only wrote because underfloor heating is not in the budget, but we don’t mind at all that we won’t get it in the new building.

What are possibly 5000 euros extra for underfloor heating when you get much more comfort and also more space for furniture? Especially in a kitchen, there is usually no additional space, especially in a small house. When reselling, it also looks bad if all other comparable houses from the same period are equipped with underfloor heating. I would rather do without a carport or something else that I could easily buy later.

Best regards
Sabine

We simply do not want underfloor heating. Moreover, it would be more than 5k extra. We simply do not consider it necessary. We are not thinking about reselling.

For the underfloor heating? It's more than 5K and we have agreed that we don't want one, don't need one, and don't want to afford one.
