Or wobble. Or sometimes a toe gets caught.

Regarding the topic of floorboards, I would be skeptical. Allegedly it is possible, the only question is how well. Wood insulates, without increasing the flow temperature of the underfloor heating, I can hardly imagine it.
Research with manufacturers does not result in a general no, but no one is enthusiastic either.

If you address the topic early, there are good options. But basically, underfloor heating also works with solid wood.

The problem with the floorboards is unfortunately that they only have a certain maximum supply temperature. And whether this is enough to make it cozy is, of course, also a question. Especially if you do not heat with gas, oil, or pellets.

We have cork, glued down, of course also underfloor heating. On the screed, a leveling compound was applied, on which the cork planks (I mean in the size 30 cm x 60 cm) were glued. The whole thing is then sealed. Now it is a soft, warm covering. We like it very much. For this, we have wooden baseboards "Hamburger Profil".

The signature of this post -- as far as present -- is not mine, by the way ;-).

"Enough to make it cozy"...
Yes, that's why the advice is to be early enough. You give the heating engineer the desired data. Starting with the top covering, then the desired room temperature, and also the desired maximum flow temperature.
Then he calculates the required heat load room by room and then designs the underfloor heating accordingly.
That is the correct procedure.
Whether in the end 1-2% efficiency is lost is almost imperceptible. But as desired, it becomes cozy.
