I also prefer several levels to one large terrace. For us, it’s still a bit off and we hardly have any garden, but we probably want a corner terrace of about 20 sqm at ground level, partially covered by the house roof. From there, 3 or 4 steps down to a smaller lower level towards the garden, which could then have a barbecue area and my wife’s lounger. Separated by indentations in the paved area with taller bushes/grasses, etc. This way we also have privacy screening for the covered part (a hot tub is planned here).

Whether we do it exactly like this will only become clear in several years, but maybe this helps the OP.

I would also simply look for inspiration online. Instagram has some good channels for that.

What does "huge" mean? I haven't read (or missed) any plot size, but the neighbor story suggests it is a terraced house. "Huge" is a flexible term that starts somewhere different for everyone.

The garden is 15 m wide according to the sketch in the opening and I think 10 m depth remain if the terrace is 4 m deep. For a terraced house quite decent. compared to yours, mine and many others here not big. Although we once had one with a full 40 sqm. Like everything, relative.

I have just read again and recognize especially from the parallel thread that I couldn't contribute anything here, even if I wanted to, since I actually don't know anyone who thinks and talks about their garden or its planting so carelessly (in my opinion). Statements like: "stuff", "whatever" and "maximize sealing" would at most make me look up "gardens of horror" once to get suitable inspiration or just concrete everything and paint it green; this in turn could be interpreted as sarcasm or the like, whereas the reference to "gardens of horror" would actually be apt (but not a recommendation), since all the desired parameters of the OP would apply here. There are such gardens, and not exactly rarely, but I wouldn't have expected it in such a forum. Well then, it's not forbidden, but this basic attitude towards garden design might be the reason for the lack of participation.

Thanks. Now I know that 150 - 200 sqm are considered "huge" by the OP. Our plots, , I would not have classified in this category either. I would have rated them as "large" with moderate usability.
