Too light, gets dirty quickly. If it's that light, you have to clean it with a pressure washer regularly. When you pressure wash, you attack the sealant, then it gets dirty even faster (with porcelain stoneware certainly less bad than with concrete paving, but still). If it has to be that light, then rather a more lively pattern. I find that quite stylish. The change in direction with a miter joint would be the highlight. Otherwise if he doesn't want to or if that gets more expensive, I would leave the larger area larger and make a cut edge there (might be necessary anyway, due to expansion joint, but the craftsman would know).
