Boy, you want to build a house someday - do you think you’ll never have a craftsman in your house again? Especially you will totally crash with your stingy house...

Honestly, you’re not all there upstairs if you look at the crap you come up with.

By the way, if the panes get dirty, the firing was wrong. Probably some wannabe experts in your circle of acquaintances...

With all fairness, I have to give Grym some credit – I’m also not happy when the craftsman/delivery service is expected on Monday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m... So we had a stove in the last holiday home – I really liked that (although it was somewhat spoiled by the poor insulation – so stove off = cold house). By the way, the glass quickly turned black – although I also read that this was probably really due to my firing/ventilation style. Cleaning it wasn’t that bad either. Everyone should be happy with what they like – the important thing is to be aware of what you install/do (which is certainly not always easy with the first house). The nice thing is that after a year you ignore everything that doesn’t actively bother you... and that also includes things like mint-colored tiles, wood paneling, and pink-painted radiators on the ceiling. Hopefully, you’ve escaped the active troublemakers: the neighbor who thinks he has to test his bongo drum at night; the woman across the street who interferes in child-rearing; the landlord who wants to pass the energy renovation costs on to you.

Do you have a link to that statistic?

And just as a thought: Your wife complains in the evening "I'm cold" – what do you do then? Turn up the underfloor heating so that it’s warmer in 12 hours? All stove owners then turn the stove on

Otherwise, I have two tips, but more for planning than for later living: empty conduits to the attic to possibly retrofit photovoltaic panels, and a thick empty conduit to the carport/garage in case you have an electric car in 10-20 years and need a socket with sufficient power for charging.

I can confirm the thing with the fireplace, we have been living in an older detached house with a fireplace for 4 years now, in the first years it was often used, the enthusiasm was just great, but over time it decreases, you don’t feel like dealing with all the dirt and work that comes with it. I am currently observing an interesting fact regarding the people building in our residential area, those who are older (second house, or who already had a fireplace (us)) build without a fireplace, and those who are building for the first time or come from an apartment build with a fireplace.

For the first tip, I agree with you. Regarding the socket for an electric car, I had a three-phase connection installed in the garage right away. That should prepare you for the future.
