Somewhere I already posted our list...

1. TV and SAT connections in all rooms (That doesn’t mean the TV is always on) I just want to be able to listen/watch

e.g. news / music / a series or whatever while showering/bathing/cooking

2. Network sockets everywhere for the various devices

3. Presence detectors in all passage areas/bathrooms/kitchen/utility room so that no light switches are needed (we partly have not planned/installed any at all)

4. Infrared faucets in the bathrooms

5. Electronic mailbox (It notifies you when someone puts something in)

6. Two control centers (touchscreens) from which the whole house can be operated, one at the entrance area and one by the bed in the bedroom (This way all functions are accessible/operable at two central locations)

7. Voice control for lamps/shutters also to save switches, they can still be operated individually via the displays/iPad/laptop/phone

8. Shading logic --- when there is too much sun, the shutters go down/up step by step/by facade sections

9. Advanced control of the controlled residential ventilation, i.e. VOC and CO2 sensors in the rooms and ducts...thus the performance is continuously adjusted automatically...manual intervention is possible at any time.

10. Waste disposer in the kitchen sink

11. At night, the lighting in the hallways/bathroom is only dimly turned on to be easier on the eyes...and so the partner doesn’t wake up.

12. Shutters in the bedroom do not go up on weekends as long as you are still in bed

13. Projector and 182-inch screen in the living room including professional popcorn machine (for the few cozy evenings)

14. Irrigation in the garden

15. NAS as media server

16. Temperature sensors in every room and display of these and other information (time, date, humidity, etc.) on the displays of the light switches in the rooms

17. Currently half of all sockets are individually switchable...changes are possible anytime without tearing up walls, just by rewiring a few cables

18. Air conditioning on the upper floor

19. Well, and many things in the background (logics, controls) and things like three-phase power outside, or outdoor water taps I don’t even count as extras...that should simply belong to a house today.

Gradually more and more conveniences are added...we keep thinking of things that could be done better.

Oh, I once dreamed like that too

Although - no offense - but I imagine the voice control of the blinds/lights to be very "affig".

, my tech heart is beating faster and faster.

Regarding 3.
3. Presence detectors in all passage areas/bathrooms/kitchen/utility room so that no light switches are needed (we partly didn’t provision/install them at all)
How can I retrofit this?

Regarding 8.
8. Shading logic --- when there is too much sun, the shutters go down/up in sections/facade-wise
How exactly have you implemented this? Could I possibly retrofit this with RWE-Smarthome? Do you have any ideas?

Regarding 10:
10. Waste disposer in the kitchen sink
Is something like this retrofittable, and if so, could you send me a tip (via PM)?

Regarding 11:
11. At night, the lighting in the corridors/bathroom is only dimly switched on so it’s easier on the eyes...and the partner doesn’t wake up.
For the upstairs corridor, I’m also thinking of something like this. Currently, there is a switch.
Can I realize this directly via a switch replacement or do I have to retrofit other components?

Regarding 12:
12. Shutters in the bedroom don’t go up on weekends as long as you are still in bed
BURNER!!!

Regarding 14:
14. Irrigation in the garden
Has been going round my head for weeks...since I still have to do the lawn anyway, I could just do it shortly before...It’s hard to schedule.

Regarding 19:
19. Well, many things in the background (logics, controls) and stuff like three-phase current outside, or an outdoor water tap, I don’t even count as extras...that should simply belong to a house nowadays.
That’s what you mean. But it’s not like that. Truly and actually not.
To be honest - total tech freaks like us are rather rare.
Great features you have - respect.

Best regards
Thorsten

I agree with that. You are really crazy about technology.

Wow - that’s intense. But some cool ideas.

We have that in all living and bedrooms + office/guest room. I don’t want a TV in the kitchen. Otherwise it would be like at my father-in-law’s, where the kids are sometimes allowed to watch TV in the kitchen during breakfast - but what can you do, grandparents are allowed that. We have a small tablet on the fridge with a radio app. That’s enough. In the bathroom we didn’t want radio/TV either. Max. my wife spends longer than necessary (when bathing) in there. But she consciously gave that up.

Double network sockets installed in the same areas as above for TV + kitchen

Presence or motion detectors? We have a motion detector with a light sensor in the upstairs hallway. It works perfectly. When someone comes to the door or upstairs, it precisely switches the light on if it’s dark. Presence detectors should be installed in the bathrooms, because my kids (sometimes also my wife) suffer from light-off forgetfulness. Presence detectors because they react to finer movements than normal motion detectors (just imagine someone sitting on the throne at night and suddenly the light goes off because the motion detector doesn’t notice the subtle movements while turning the toilet reading material pages). Unfortunately, this had to fall victim to budget cuts. Presence detectors are also significantly more expensive than motion detectors (at least according to the electrician’s quote).

I find that funny. For me, it’s enough to go to the mailbox once a day - usually this is done anyway when coming home.

I find THAT cool. I would like that too.

I thought those things (which are often common in the USA) are banned in Germany? On the one hand due to potential injury risk and on the other hand because the ground waste would then (at least in the US) be sent into the sewage system where the rats shouldn’t be pleased.

Also quite good. OK - I usually find my way in the dark - the daughter by way of her little night light. My wife wouldn’t be bothered by something like that.

We have that too - ok, the installation (DIY) isn’t quite finished yet. But it will definitely be great.

We call that hygrometer for the interior rooms for 19.99 in packs of three. Also in every relevant room. The only annoyance factor are the actual outdoor measuring devices. They seem to eat batteries, the consumption is so high and the outside temperature is not displayed very often.

Nevertheless cool stuff.
