We turn on our bedside lamps in the bedroom with a switch by the door (and have done so early on because of the cozy impression when entering) and then turn them off in the middle of the bed. Ceiling lighting is rarely used.

Laundry chute unhygienic? Laundry baskets too?

It doesn’t clog if you plan it large enough. Ours is accessible from the hallway via a swing flap – hardly visible, even sealed.

In the basement, the items fall into a large bag attached to the chute.

Always these generalizations...

You can tell you haven't dealt with the topic. Our laundry chute is btw discreetly integrated into the bathroom, has a nice stainless steel lid, and everything fits through (bedding etc.) without problems.

Of course, if you plan a 20 cm pipe...

Properly planned, a laundry chute greatly eases housework.

This hype around laundry chutes is a mystery to me as well. All the house construction companies also want to make it appealing. I find it completely pointless. We are building a second utility room on the upper floor for washing machines + dryers and ironing. Very practical. Laundry is generated UPSTAIRS and not downstairs. The utility room also has access to the balcony, so I don’t have to "ruin" the garden with laundry. In addition, a proper staircase to the (initially unfinished) attic will be installed in this utility room. A chicken ladder is out of the question for me... I also want to carry a large box up to the attic without doing acrobatics.

Regards, Steffen
