I'll also give my two cents.
I have a 7.2 kWp system with a 10 kW battery using a Huawei system. I am very satisfied with it. It has been running completely trouble-free for over a year. I calculated and built the system myself. Costs including the battery were just under 10,000 euros last year, VAT included.
The size of the system fits almost perfectly with my consumption. I am very glad I decided to get a battery. Since March, I have not used any electricity from the grid. Previously, I had about 5,000 kWh electricity consumption including electric hot water production. Now after one year, I have about 1,500 kWh consumption over the winter. That’s how I calculated it, and that is how it is in reality.
Still, I feed a little more than 2,000 kWh into the grid, rather unintentionally. That is the surplus electricity from the photovoltaic system. Because of my south-facing system, the battery covers my electricity consumption completely from 5:00 pm to 9:00 am. Without the battery, I would have more feed-in but also more grid consumption. And the goal should be for everyone to minimize grid consumption as much as possible.
Currently, my battery empties to about 60 - 70 percent. The days are getting shorter. It will last until the beginning of November, then grid consumption starts again. For December and January, I expect zero photovoltaic electricity. During the time of highest electricity consumption, you have the least photovoltaic yield.
In summer, about just under 40 kWh daily yield is realistic, at Christmas 1 - 2 kWh.
Don’t skimp on the battery, you will regret it. There is nothing worse than having a photovoltaic system on the roof and the electricity meter starts spinning. Like this year in August, when it rained for weeks, the system barely managed to charge the battery. I was really glad to have my battery then.
But in the end, everyone can do what they want. The stupid talk that the battery doesn't pay off doesn’t matter to me at all. My system is paid off and there are 5,000 euros less in my account. So what? It doesn’t eat bread. I live very well with it.
