Newly built single-family house - gas or air heat pump + photovoltaics + storage?

Hello everyone,

I will build a house in 2021 / 2022 and live in it myself. 10x10, 1.5 stories - standard single-family house. DN 40 degree gable roof, ridge direction north/south (so the roof is west/east and can be equipped with photovoltaics).
So, now to my question. Gas is available in the area. Which heating technology would you advise me to choose???

Gas? Air heat pump + photovoltaics + electricity storage? Ground heat pump? Or something completely different?

And who can tell me something like this without any ulterior motives for their own profit (like heating engineers always selling gas, etc.)

Best regards
Flo

What energy level are you aiming for? What budget? Plot size?

With your information, any answer is currently correct.
I would always build with a heat pump. Additionally, photovoltaic as large as possible. Storage needs to be carefully calculated.

What do you want? Gas is by far the cheapest and very reliable.

Heat pump with photovoltaic storage very expensive, but more future-oriented.

If budget is tight, gas.

I would tend towards an air-to-water heat pump and photovoltaics, they harmonize well. I would currently still leave out the storage. It is still very expensive and therefore you run a high risk that it will never pay off. Photovoltaic systems usually pay for themselves over time and can continue operating even years after the breakeven point.

Hello,

sorry for only getting back to you now.

What is meant by energy level? Budget for the entire construction project 350-400k (plot available) size approx. 250m² (so nothing for surface collectors)

Well, as so often a bit of everything. Heat cheaply, be good for the environment and somewhat self-sufficient would also be nice.
But yes, well, I hadn’t considered the costs yet, can you give a price comparison modern gas heating vs. photovoltaic + air-water heat pump? I have no idea at all, maybe 10,000 vs. 25,000???
Then you have to think carefully about how much the "environment" is worth to me, because with a 15,000 difference I can heat with gas for a long time. And yes, my budget is very tight.

Energy Saving Ordinance, KFW55, KFW40(+)

You shouldn’t include photovoltaic in your calculation. You can also install that with a gas heating system. Important are the acquisition costs and the difference in operating costs.
