Yes, pointless. Typical men’s house. The planning starts with the garage. Then they think about how to create the most permanent connection to the car. You wonder why the wife doesn't just sleep outside in the garage and cuddle with the car on the sofa. Then the direct door from outside to the utility room would also make a lot more sense... for the (cleaning) woman.
What I always wonder, when the oh-so-muddy cyclist has scratched dirtily along the cars and made it through the utility room door, is whether the dirt is just allowed to stay there? Or does it matter for the sweaty T-shirt whether it turns off on the shortest path to the washing machine? All of this just to stand naked in the hallway? And when I want to cycle again next time, do I look for the muddy shoes under the laundry pile or are there special mud shoe cabinets in the utility room?
I think the real reason is probably that men secretly sneak to their car in an unobserved moment and stroke it. They just don't want to admit it!
Well, I just found it practical in my mind. In the current house (new build with 4 units) we have an underground garage. Here I ride my bike through the garage door and start taking off the top layers of clothing there. That already leaves quite a bit of dirt. Then I stash the dirtiest clothes in the basement and go into the apartment on the ground floor in underwear. With a 7 m wide garage, you should also be able to easily get past two cars or use the back door from the [KER], since that’s where the bikes are parked anyway. Therefore, it’s practical not only for groceries (which I really do), but also from a hobby point of view in my eyes.
Besides, I don’t like the design at all. The main rooms (dining and kitchen) are narrow, tube-like and uncomfortable spaces. The chill area looks uninviting.
The bitten-off corner at the entrance—what is that supposed to achieve? Originality at all costs?
Hmm, that was a design from another company without any major specifications from me.
Honestly, I was hoping for somewhat more constructive feedback. No offense, but comments like “I don’t like the design” don’t help me/us much. I am definitely open to concrete suggestions for improvement or even a completely different floor plan. But I haven’t found anything like that here so far.
2D and 3D do not show the same house.
That’s true, it was more about showing the elevation with the new slopes. Unfortunately, our CAD program is less suited for house construction, so I had to use a simple rectangular shape.
The cantilever of the upper floor to the left is damn expensive nonsense, and the bay window on the ground floor is a useless misplanning that cuts into the usable space.
Yes, I agree with you there as well. Originally, I had intended to omit the bay window because the costs are almost the same if I enlarge the upper floor straight away instead of creating a flat roof.
The bathroom should be swapped with the storage room, because where it is now, it would get morning sun.
I also agree, that was the idea in my original floor plan.
The wardrobe here is only accepted by my minority faction and otherwise gets a beating for its “too small” size.
Since my jackets mostly lie around in the car anyway or hang in the closet, the wardrobe isn’t really important. We currently have none at all, but I did want to provide a small one if the number of residents increases.
