That can, for example, be a price issue, because 3x80 base cabinets are cheaper than 6x40 base cabinets and, you can also make better use of the space. And money is always a topic in the builder's forum because there are so many costs involved in the construction process.

The trash is supposed to go here for now; under the sink doesn’t work because of the boiling water tap. I just thought about splitting the 80cm cabinet next to the fridge into 2x40cm and implementing a base cabinet with a waste system (makes sense). But my wife is blocking it. She says it’s not symmetrical enough. Also, she wants the trash next to the dishwasher because of food leftovers on the plates.

I didn’t understand the questions about the position of the open part. Please ask again more clearly for men.

If you mean the opening of the lift-and-slide door. Where you marked it in green, the opening was always planned. That makes sense.

Then you should divide the marked cabinet into 3-3 sections and place the trash bin at the top, basically a base cabinet with a waste system!. Then you don't have to bend down for every little thing to open the trash bin, and the accuracy also increases.

And symmetry is not given anyway because of one 60 and one 80.

I wonder where you want to prepare and chop. On the 60 cm piece to the right of the sink?

Really think about your workflow.

But actually here:

it is not indicated that way, at least I interpret the suggested arrows at the lift-and-slide door as the opening part of the lift-and-slide door, which makes sense in the living room area, but not in the dining area.

I know where you are coming from. The best solution would be to split one of the 80s on the island into 2x40s because work is being done next to the stove. But my wife wants it next to the dishwasher and on the wrong side because she doesn’t want to lose the supposed symmetry next to the fridge. So you see, in this case, even double wrong decisions. MUPEL I find totally sensible. I just demonstrated how great it would be to have a trash bin under the countertop while cutting garlic and onions. No chance.
