Go to the specialty store and take a look at large formats. 10mm is now the exception. That's actually the case. If self-installing, then only - on a truly even floor and initially leveling - only with a leveling system - only with a tile lifter - only using the Buttering Floating method - only with an installation plan You can no longer cut 120cm in length with a simple tile cutter. There are special cutters for that (wet or dry) – the 6mm break very cleanly.

Thank you very much for the hints.

I would have used the buttering floating method anyway, or the tiler would have.

One more question about impact sound insulation. Vinyl is to be laid in the bedrooms. However, since I have little insulation or little impact sound insulation upstairs, I would like to add a bit more impact sound insulation under my 5mm thick vinyl. I visited various specialist stores. Many were of the opinion that the impact sound insulation was sufficient.

Briefly about the construction: Rogdecke is made of hollow chamber stones placed between the concrete beams. (Typical ceiling/subfloor from the 50s/60s)

Above that, I have 0.6mm impact sound insulation from Schlütter

Above that, then the Schlüter Bekotec system for a low construction height of 6 centimeters

Above that is to be the floor covering.

I am afraid that it is simply too little impact sound insulation or that I will hear the running child downstairs in the living room.

Best regards

Our cooking/dining/living area is also 120x60x0.6 cm, I think there are no disadvantages compared to 10 mm thickness. However, I would not have wanted to lay it myself. Although I am really pain-free when it comes to doing things myself.

Okay, thanks. Do you still remember what you paid the tiler?

Back then it was about just under 100 m2 of flooring in the living/dining/kitchen area as well as the study and bathrooms, plus wall tiles in the large bathroom and guest WC and the creation of a sloped screed for the walk-in shower. Plus the waterproofing in the bathroom and tiling of the bathtub. The pure labor time without any materials (which were procured separately or charged separately) cost 6k (including). It was a one-man operation and I helped a bit with carrying tiles and priming. Year 2022.

In the meantime, the screed is in, the heating program has been completed, and we are in the process of hanging the ceiling. We made the substructure on the upper floor with battens. On the ground floor, we are doing it with spring rails. In the second picture, you can see the wall tiles for the lower bathroom (the "Terrazzo" tile is only to be tiled on the wall in the shower area). The rest with the gray tile.
