Sometimes it is made to seem as if the installation of a heat pump is wizardry. Basically, however, the people involved just have to do their job and not just pull something out of thin air. Our general contractor installs heat pumps in 5-10% of 400 houses per year, the planned room temperatures do not match 100% with those we have, and with 23-24 degrees in one-third of the house it is already not cold. All not perfect conditions and yet our heat pump achieves an annual performance factor of over 4.

Here in Middle Franconia, according to PVGIS, 3% of the annual photovoltaic output is produced in January. That means you will hardly notice it with regard to the heat pump, but that does not mean that photovoltaic is a bad investment over 10-15 years, rather the opposite. However, the idea that photovoltaic noticeably supports the heat pump should be dismissed.

I see it the same from my own experience. Of the almost 90kWh yield in January, we had 77% energy consumption. Hot water accounts for almost 30kWh per month. Heating 315kWh. With a south + west roof totaling 6.3kWp, it is also not a huge system.
