Hybrid heating: Is a heat pump with a gas condensing boiler sensible in old buildings?

The heating load is completely independent of the type of heating system.
High flow temperature is worse for heat pumps than low. How to bring it down is exactly what we’re discussing here in the thread.
The rest of your post... In winter there is a lot of wind, heating with a heat pump is better even with coal power than oil, and if we want to survive, we’d best make a bit of an effort. But what am I saying – gas is currently sorting itself out anyway, so in a way we can thank the old Russian for finally stirring things up properly here. ;-)

Correct, the heating load is independent of the heating system. But the individual energy sources cost different amounts. Gas will certainly not settle back at 7ct/kWh, nor will electricity at 30ct. But gas will also remain significantly cheaper than electricity in the long term, precisely because we have to fill the gaps between sun and wind with it and partly also cover the base load due to the nuclear phase-out. And I don’t currently see gas becoming obsolete. We are simply replacing cheap pipeline gas from the Russian dictator with liquefied gas from the sheikhs and fracking gas from America. That won’t change anytime soon. Many existing buildings can only be retrofitted with heat pumps at great expense (I currently live in one myself), and even if everyone wanted to switch, there simply aren’t enough skilled workers for it.

What is important - and here we seem to agree - is that we start.

Unfortunately, the current owner cannot tell me exactly what the heating load is. I can only determine it based on the data

she currently still has these old radiator heaters. In January and February the heating was set to 3 and it was already quite warm.
The heating system is a Bruderus Logana G 105 from 1988, energy class D.

So, to sum up, it can be said that it is best to consult an energy advisor, insulate the facade and roof, install triple-glazed windows, underfloor heating upstairs and downstairs, and then a heat pump definitely makes sense, right?

It even makes sense with less extensive measures - just as you describe it, it would be perfect. (Maybe some photovoltaic panels on the roof, if it is going to be covered anyway.)

As long as it is only the healthy doubt of laypeople without knowledge, everything is fine. There are entire institutes that deal only with this, they will know.
