You don't know in advance what the children's interests will be. At some friends' houses, all the children from the street gather in their garden because there is a large paddling pool and trampoline. My thought was that I could cook while the children play in the garden. I can't do that currently because we don't have a garden and I have to go to the playground every day.

One question: I noticed that our architect calculated all double windows with a width of 2m. Isn't that a bit much? We don't have any windows wider than 1.6m now. Is there some kind of formula that states that from a certain room size X sqm, large windows should be installed?

No. We have 2 meters width everywhere with a window height of 2.15. If the house is wide, that makes sense. Narrower looks better with narrow exterior walls or if it is desired (conservative city villas). Windows should cover 8-10% of the room’s floor area. Otherwise, planned individually depending on the floor plan or architectural style. I just checked again a little while ago: I had suggested completely omitting the pantry/cabinets in front of the stairs. Possibly a double door or single door there, but L-shaped terrace to the NW… actually, you have a great orientation: sun from the south into the rooms, additionally from west and north. NW terrace would get sun from 1 p.m.… I wanted to draw something but unfortunately didn’t manage. Your kitchen room has a lot of potential.

Wide windows bring more light into the room than narrow floor-to-ceiling windows or doors of the same area. Therefore recommended.

At 4, I had started not to observe so much anymore. One ear is enough, an occasional glance and a quick step if something happens. At 5/6, I am sometimes not even visible and in another floor or garden area.

Until you have built, the constant gaze is no longer necessary. Not having to go to the playground is a great relief.

And cooking twice a day doesn't last forever either
