What exactly is so nice about it? It certainly can't be the office. Child 2 with the hose inlet is okay, but that won't win any architectural awards. You can't stand at a sink without risking falling backwards into the tub. It's not a catastrophe... but I like it. Mmmh.

Yes, I will enlarge the bathroom and make the bedroom smaller. The small partition wall in the bedroom will be removed then.

It would be a small workroom for the ironing board and laundry. Currently, two of us are sitting in an 11 sqm office; that works too.

And that would be exactly my question, how can I make the layout in the bathroom better. The children's rooms both face south, meaning the children would have nice bright rooms (that was my thought behind it).

I would arrange the layout of the granny flat differently. The kitchen as a long row along the wall towards the kitchen and arranged into the dining, living, cooking area, and create a small separate bedroom. Otherwise, it feels very much like a nursing home room. There is, of course, no storage space, so it would really only be an emergency accommodation for special situations, as the space is not really suitable for care or a longer stay of a fit person.

The kitchen will probably not be needed as such if the parents should actually need care. It is really intended as an absolute last resort. We just have to show it like that in the plan because of the funding (yes, the funding is a tricky issue, but given the construction prices and interest rates, it's still not bad). I have an idea for the arrangement, but I don’t know of any tool with which I could model it.

Here is a possible layout for a granny flat. However, only for 1 person as originally.

Thank you Katja for the suggestion, but I can only get to the guest WC through the current office, right? Can you tell me which tool you use to model the rooms?

And that in the age of digitalization :) Seriously, I like to do that with paper and pen, but I would like a tool with which I can draw up the plan and where I have the option to "walk" through the rooms in 3D. I am also happy to pay for that, but I don't want to buy AutoCAD :)
