Yes, the terrace door is currently being hotly debated in our family :) However, I do not know how easily something like this can be integrated into KfW. The terrace door and the removal of the huge sliding door also make planning the kitchen easier.

My kids are 4 and 2. I can’t imagine how it’s supposed to work if I’m in the kitchen and they’re playing in the garden unsupervised. How did you do it? I spend at least 2-3 hours (preparing lunch and dinner) in the kitchen.
From the kitchen in the southwest, I wouldn’t have a chance to intervene.
On top of that, the terrace exit via the dining area (4m sliding door) won’t be covered (too expensive). The kitchen exit would be covered because the terrace furniture will also be placed there.
But yes, basically the room in the southwest would be better suited for the kitchen, I agree with that. The kitchen planning would also be easier in that case.

My children ate lunch at the daycare during the week, on weekends and evenings my husband and I share the tasks. And if I have to do it alone, the children come into the kitchen with me for that time. I could count on two hands the times I was in a situation where I had to supervise the children alone from the kitchen. Therefore, it would never be a planning criterion for me. The eldest is turning seven, for example, I don’t have to supervise him in the garden anymore. The garden is no longer that exciting for him either.

I completely agree with Myrna, my grandchildren are 6 and 8.5 years old, why should you keep an eye on them? Also, as Myrna writes, the garden is only interesting at that age if there is something to do. The family just did housesitting, 4000m2 of land, trees and lawn. She was not interested in that BUT the tennis court.

Or the older one plays cricket in the garden (Ball an Leine), the younger one is more interested in cuddly toys and both are more interested in the iPad than in the garden. I see that with the neighbors too, you don't hear or see them, plots of 700m2 with pool

Because your grandchildren are not ’s children? They are…

Otherwise, consider whether you cook twice a day. Bread rolls and sausages work in the evening too, just like Nutella sandwiches :)
I would relocate the patio doors, maybe around the corner up there on the right side? It doesn’t have to be the mega sliding door.
