Could you please check based on the data whether the staircase is okay as it is? The opening on the upper floor is 3.5m by 1m.

Another question regarding the entrance area: I would like to replace the masonry stair wall with a glass wall to simply have a greater sense of space. Has anyone installed something like that and can report on how it is? How do I solve the problem with the hallway door?

And one more question: Which tool could I use to plan and modify the floor plan and that offers a 3D view?

Hello Würfel, orienting the kitchen to the other side was actually discussed but then discarded. Since I will probably spend most of the time in the kitchen, I want to keep an eye on my 2 kids when they play in the garden. It should be mentioned that the street is a small village road, with a car passing by once every half hour.

Yes, the passage... That was my husband's idea; he definitely wants to go directly from the street/driveway into the garden. To the west, only the terrace is planned; after that comes an old driveway to the old garage. I'll mark it on the plan but can only post it later since I don't have it on hand. The neighbor to the west is my husband's sister, but I don't know if that's good or bad :) Currently, we get along well. The garden to the north is intended for all activities like a sandbox, swing, trampoline, etc.

You plan a house for the next 20 years based on watching your children in the garden from the sink for about five years or so? I would rather rethink my work organization and look at how to spend time in the kitchen as efficiently as possible, so I can go out to the garden myself :D

Is it even possible to do both? Working in the kitchen and at the same time watching the kids? At least help must then be able to be provided quickly, which is why the patio door should be where you can also maintain eye contact. In the west, I see fewer play equipment, it would be better in the north with westerly influence.

That only works as long as the children are so small that they don’t develop creativity and don’t think that the sandbox dam could be built much more efficiently with dad’s tools from the garage. Or that it’s much better to ride the Bobby Car on the side of the house that can’t be seen. Or that they water the little brother with the big watering can because he sprayed water first. That’s my experience with two little wild ones. But apparently it’s a strong trend to design floor plans so you can keep an eye on the children, judging by how often you read that here.
