@Würfel: Could you post a photo of it? Thanks! I would be willing to clean or they can even paint on the wall if they like. That wouldn't bother me that much.

I don't think the floor plan is that bad either. Regarding the stairs, we're talking about an adjustment of maybe one step. 18.5 cm is not exactly a ladder. Please keep things in perspective. And about the [Einliegerwohnung]: if my parents needed help, I would comfortably give up the guest WC for years. And the wardrobe. As a family, you can also squeeze together a bit for a few years.

With 15 steps and 3m you don’t get 18.5 cm. It’s just math. What am I missing here? The question is whether it’s necessary to give up the guest bathroom? No, the question is always whether it’s worth 650K to you. What exactly is so nice about it? It can’t be the office. Child 2 with the hose entrance is okay but you won’t win any architectural awards for that either. You can’t stand at a sink without risking falling backwards into the tub. It’s not a disaster... but does it please you? Mmmh. And you pay a lot of money for every centimeter. Which is undoubtedly “huge.”

However, I would design the layout of the granny flat differently. Arrange the kitchen as a long row along the wall towards the kitchen and incorporate it into the living, dining, and cooking area, creating a small extra bedroom. Otherwise, it really feels like a nursing home room. Storage space is of course not available, so it would really only be an emergency accommodation for special situations, as the space is not really suitable for care or a longer stay of a fit person.

Here is a possible layout for a granny flat. However, only for 1 person as originally intended.

Maybe someone has an idea for 2 beds. Folding out a sofa is hard to expect from elderly people.
I'm still working on the rest of the house.
