Phew, thanks for the many suggestions.
We made this floor plan for two builders. Both said that we can pave directly up to the front door and therefore wouldn’t need a platform. Hopefully, that can really be implemented that way.
A door from the utility room to the garden is really worth considering!! You can hang the laundry in the garden right away.
We also discussed a door right after the entrance to the pantry, it’s also not completely off the table.
We chose the double garage because we have to accommodate 3 cars and at least 2 of them should have a dry spot. We haven’t been too happy with just 1 garage so far. It will be a masonry garage with a large door. If we leave space between the garage and the house here, then we have very little space to the neighbor on the southwest side. It’s already a bit tight, unfortunately :-(. A direct path to the back garden would be really nice.
You find the overall impression quite appealing? That would make me happy, I know you’re not a fan of such a cube.
I would:
Consider the platform as a given. Because it can be/always is the case that at the start of construction you always have to make sure you get above street level. That is often “estimated,” so you have to reckon with at least a 10/15 cm high platform.
I also agree with Chand that a house should also be accessible from the back.
A passage or a garage that offers more shelter on the side of the house is charming and practical.
To accommodate the second and third little cars (you don’t have to roof every car*) I would build a double carport in front of the living room window...
It also has the advantage that you can throw washing machine parties under the carports.
*do you have to roof all three cars???
