Just as a thought experiment. Move the partition wall between the hallway and the open-plan kitchen diagonally from the staircase corner to the utility room corner. Replace the double door with a sliding door. Leave out the door under the stairs, keep the storage area under the stairs open. This will make the entrance spacious without really losing anything in the living area. I like the swap of the units, as well as the enlarged utility room. Karsten

In a bend or with a landing there: both "break" the rhythm of the hallway. Which one you prefer?: one cracks the egg, the other breaks it open.

A small house is not a wish concert. The hallway upstairs should not be narrow, but economical - and that starts with a conveniently located exit. What bothered me was the relatively wasteful forecastle, as well as the arrangement of the rooms in it.

I see that similarly, ...

... but not this: absolutely speaking, the utility room is now better sized, but in proportion now in my opinion too large.

But above all, I think the original poster should take a short break to let the basics mature. By that I mean less where the stairs start, but that the sitting area and the kitchen, still swapping places across the floor plan, should settle before further planning.

Good idea. And extend this middle wall of the stairs all the way to the end. That then moves in a good direction. Coat rack in the storage under the stairs. Opposite the sliding door on the same axis, a patio door.

Upstairs is taking shape as well. Toilet approximately where the toilet is downstairs (same drain reduces costs), washbasin between door and window... there is potential in the bathroom if the room is at least 2.20 meters wide.

Regards, Yvonne

And in particular, they are also very differently sized / furnished (line length of the part on the gable wall). What is supposed to be "in" the kitchen (and how it is arranged) is no less influential on the overall floor plan than the stair issue.

Good evening everyone,

so the topic of stair start and moving the wall are postponed:

There are three decisions for us personally to make here:

- open staircase or concrete staircase (closed tread) Both have advantages and disadvantages in our opinion
- start on the ground floor in the entrance area or in the living area
- wall with sliding or hinged glass door in front of, behind, or between both staircases.

A quick draft taking your suggestions into account. Bathroom on the upper floor was adjusted accordingly.

Topic kitchen and living room. So far we have hardly any requirements for our kitchen. We know that both kitchens seem more than sufficient for us. I have already bought six kitchens in my life.
3.70m + 2.70m + cooking island is definitely sufficient for us. The visit to the kitchen planner will take place in the next few weeks.

So please do me a favor. Do not question our decision-making process...

Best regards

The question does not arise: from the use of the space under the stairs as a storage room it clearly follows that the stairs will also have risers - or does one want to look into the storage room? - apart from that, then drawing the line staircase partition wall - room partition wall makes no sense (?)

If this means the direction of rotation with otherwise the same stair location: surely rather with the start in the living area - what should be attractive about having that part of the stairs, which only consists of the storage room underneath, in the living room? (except as a "pantry").
