Certainly an option - depending on personal preferences. I myself would prefer a lot of natural light on the sofa and can live with no window above the countertop in the kitchen. Others might prefer the sofa in a "cozy den".

Hello everyone,

thank you very much for the numerous responses and points of criticism. I will try to consider all ideas and take them with me to the architect.

Here are a few notes on your comments:
- It was very important to us that the living room and dining room face the garden. This is oriented to the south.
- We wanted to place the pantry and especially the technical room far away, but still close to the kitchen. However, I think, but will only know later, that the 2 meters extra walking after shopping won't bother us.
- We really cannot change the general orientation and the entrance of the house. It is quite possible that we will have a garden stretched on all sides and we only have a 5-meter-wide driveway at the front corner of the property. That means if we put the garage on the other side, we would have to pave a very large driveway.
- Windows have only been used as dummies so far. I really liked the very narrow windows with blinds, but whether they will be installed is still unclear.

We have noticed that a room layout with a side entrance and no basement is somewhat more difficult. An entrance opposite the garden is, in our opinion, easier.

I also understand that everyone would find something to criticize in everyone's planning. We do not like 90% of the plans shown here either, but I am grateful for every tip.

Well, in my opinion, the living room is used 90% of the time for watching TV anyway, while I am active in the kitchen and therefore prefer to have natural light here. Additionally, it was important for me to have the kitchen close to the terrace. But that's a matter of opinion and was already a huge topic of discussion with our floor plan here.
What would work better in this case, however, is the kitchen island topic. Where the kitchen is now, you can definitely forget that.

And instead of the void space upstairs, make a storage room for cleaning supplies, etc. You hardly have any storage space in the house anyway.

Important things can very well be incorporated into a good plan.

It's not about the walking itself (although as a housewife I would have the storage room or kitchen rather quickly accessible), it’s about the fact that you will have to rush all the inhabitants in this house, which is to be avoided. Because everyone does not necessarily want to be disturbed in their personal daily routine, whether it’s drinking coffee at the dining table or relaxing in the couch area.
You also know now that the kitchen is not suitable as a passageway.

Nope! Just turn the car 90 degrees to the left and then reach the garage that way.
By the way, we don’t know where the garden is located or what neighboring buildings could be disturbing... unfortunately the site plan is missing.

You just have to be able to understand them
If we write imprecisely, please ask for clarification.

Totally agree.
But I have the feeling that precisely those who spend the least time in the house or cooking (rather more at work) don't understand it. For them, the living room traditionally includes the panoramic window, lounge area, TV, and terrace. Gin and tonic included.

But not so much that you would have pointed to the continuation in the original thread at all.

I see two drainage issues in the bathroom, and both are unpleasant: once a downpipe would be needed where would probably place a little piano, and once where a bonsai oleander closes off the kitchen unit. Yvonne is probably mistaken about the cardinal directions because of the floor plans that are only roughly oriented south.
