Why is this so bad now, apart from my ancient terrible graphic?

Alternatively, the gable roof:

I wouldn’t even know which one I would want to build first. (Ah, my building addiction – there it is again!)

For aesthetic reasons?
Or to have a covered access between the house and the garage?
For the latter, the garage could also be placed directly next to the house and an intermediate door planned.
Or – also with the garage directly at the house – plan the front door close to the garage and cover the corner between the house and the garage. The garage would then possibly be a bit wider with a separate access door next to the gates. This also creates a bit more storage space in the garage for lawn mowers, bicycles, tools, etc.
If a corridor open on both sides permanently means cold drafts, as described here, I would classify it as dispensable.

Excuse me, I have to go briefly off-topic:
Since the realization of our construction area and thus our house plan is taking longer, I am just a silent reader. I have often thought: "Hopefully the forum is still as active, helpful, and above all constructive when things get serious for us!"

(Katja, could you please send me a PM?)

Visually, a [Walmdach] with a 30-degree roof pitch does not appeal to us particularly. A [Satteldach] would be an option. We will discuss this in the first meeting with the architect and possibly have it drawn. Both visually and for a covered entrance, we like a garage that is not attached directly to the house. Whether this is an advantage, I cannot say at the moment. Friends also have it like this and are satisfied. But we will have both versions drawn again.

The 30-degree hipped roof only looks that high if you were to view it from the 1st floor of a house opposite. When standing 20 meters in front of it, it looks completely different. We have one like that too, and on the previous drawings, it did not look the same as it does now in reality,

Best regards
Sabine

Thank you very much for your advice.
On Wednesday we have the appointment and we will take all the findings with us.

I will certainly have a new update tomorrow and will show it :-P
