In their generality, rather a dubious statement...

If you like to be in the dark in a house with large windows facing south, then roller shutters are of course top [emoji1303]. However, if you don’t turn to dust at every sunbeam and like it bright and to look outside while having thermal protection, I would definitely give exterior venetian blinds a purpose and their reason to exist.

Now the objection "I’m at work during the day, so I just close the roller shutters" will probably come up again. If you are alone (and will stay that way), ok, why not. If not? Are kids and Dad/Mum sitting in the dark? Same on weekends? Just a thought.... [emoji4]

By the way: for us, exterior venetian blinds don’t cost a significant extra charge, but we build with an architect in individual contracting. In our previous inquiries with general contractors, they also charged heavily... it’s probably another case where GCs see their chance to fleece the builders...

The objection certainly does not come from nordlys, he also refrained from using roller shutters [emoji38]

There are light grey pleated blinds made to measure. Entire house €1200 gross, fully installed. Curtains unnecessary. Blinds too. Bathroom window is made opaque with foil by a car sticker installer, small wave design. Slightly maritime.. €50 all incl. It’s that simple. Karsten

And how exactly do you achieve heat protection with INTERNAL shading measures?!

Privacy, sure, especially in the bathroom I find the variant with "frosted" foil sensible. Although the car sticker variant seems somewhat semi-professional to me.

But using internal shading for heat protection (and that's what I was talking about) sounds unconvincing because it's ineffective.

I should add: "for me." So "sounds unconvincing for me..." [emoji4]

We forego thermal insulation. Never had it, never missed it. We don’t actually have that many large glass surfaces facing south. For the [Autobekleber] semi-professionally. Well, if you can wrap a car, you can probably manage a window too.
