If you like to be in the dark in a house with large windows facing south, then roller shutters are of course top [emoji1303]. However, if you don’t turn to dust at every sunbeam and like it bright and to look outside while having thermal protection, I would definitely give exterior venetian blinds a purpose and their reason to exist.
Now the objection "I’m at work during the day, so I just close the roller shutters" will probably come up again. If you are alone (and will stay that way), ok, why not. If not? Are kids and Dad/Mum sitting in the dark? Same on weekends? Just a thought.... [emoji4]
By the way: for us, exterior venetian blinds don’t cost a significant extra charge, but we build with an architect in individual contracting. In our previous inquiries with general contractors, they also charged heavily... it’s probably another case where GCs see their chance to fleece the builders...
