So you recommend to someone who still asks after half a year what can be done with B@H and radio smart homes, to read a 1200-page book about KNX? How much extra does the electrician charge for B@H for what you want?

We haven’t talked about it in detail yet

For F@H he said depending on the scope of functions it’s around €10,000

He said he’s reluctant to do KNX and it starts at €20,000 initially
He would use MDT devices for KNX

We had to wait an extremely long time for the electrician (the original electrician had the contract revoked by the developer because he didn’t take care of it)

Now we have the new electrician and immediately made an appointment
That’s why we couldn’t deal with the topic for a long time

F@H was actually out
Because I always read on the internet that F@H is worse than KNX and costs the same

With this electrician KNX costs twice as much and that’s where KNX even starts

That’s why I’m starting to look into F@H again

€20,000 is already too much for us
€10,000 might still just be acceptable if it would be worth it

Why don't you ask your questions to the electrician? If he is so convinced of F@H, he can hopefully answer your questions adequately – he seems to have experience. Otherwise, I follow what most others here do: especially in new buildings, I would neither install a wireless solution nor bind myself to a single manufacturer (of whom you can never say how long they will continue to produce a product). I consider the statement that an F@H installation costs a maximum of 50% of a KNX solution to be far too general. It always depends on what you install. You can certainly make an F@H solution twice as expensive as a small KNX installation. With a similar range of functions, I expect similar costs.

1. he chooses F@H because you don't need any skills for it 2. he doesn't choose KNX or sets a defensive price because you have to know something for it 3. wired is ALWAYS better than wireless, no matter the system 4. for a somewhat professional solution you have no choice but F@H, because your electrician dictates it to you 5. do what your electrician can or wants to do, systems imposed on an electrician against their will almost never work well and cost significantly more 6. F@H has already been discussed here many times

@ I want to inform myself independently of the electrician

regarding KNX he will probably make a defensive offer that we definitely don’t take KNX but maybe only his F@H

I have not found anything detailed about F@H here (maybe I can’t use the search function properly)
in most threads it basically just says F@H is not as good as KNX better to take KNX directly and price-wise hardly any difference

My questions:
How complex can automations be made with F@H?
Is F@H even worth it? How high do you estimate the risk that B J will eventually give up Free@Home?
Is F@H even worth about €10,000?
Does Free@Home have more advantages besides being wired compared to a radio smart home? I mean especially in terms of functions

Then you are roughly at my "smart" level  You can do all that very easily. I have:
- Roller shutters: Bosch Smart Home roller shutter control. If you have Corporate Benefits, they cost about €45 each.
- Light: Can be well controlled via Philips Hue.
- Smoke detectors: Bosch Guard smoke detector. It is smart and can perform a few other measurements.
- Motion detectors: Also from Bosch. Can be connected with the Guard smoke detector and also serves as an alarm system/motion detector.

It’s all not really smart home. More like gimmicks :-)
