You always have to consider how much you want to cobble together yourself and how the WAF (women acceptance factor) turns out.

Pi behind the TV - I wouldn’t survive a day! :D

Sure, it all somehow works, but how much do I want to stress myself out with it in everyday life... for example, we decided against Sat>IP or only plan it as a supplement.

Yeah, okay, I can understand. ;-) For me, it's my hobby and I already look forward to tinkering around with it. ;-)

My girlfriend still trusts me with that. Let's see how long that lasts. :-D

There are certainly other possibilities, but I would set up a quad receiver running enigma2 somewhere. And for each client, an IP box that also runs female-friendly.

Or with a server, but unfortunately I have no experience with that.

I hope the link is okay

As far as the clients are concerned, there are many different ones. I myself am already using SAT>IP. With me, my Philips TV can connect directly to the server/converter. This works thanks to DLNA technology. Alternatively, the KODI (Raspberry) + TV option also works. It works very well if the TV even has a corresponding USB port.

In this case, the Raspberry starts with the TV and is controlled with the TV remote thanks to HDMI CEC. It works very well and very reliably in my case. :)

I have at least one TWIN LAN port in almost every room. But not a single coax/...

P.S. The only thing you have to live with is a minimal latency. The neighbors might cheer 1-2 seconds before you during football matches :D

Thank you all very much for the many tips, it definitely makes me optimistic that we can manage this without SAT or Telekom. I really didn’t want to start a fundamental discussion about whether SAT or IpTV is more sensible/better... we simply decided on IpTV and, as Alex85 already mentioned, we did not plan any SAT wiring. I think we will give EWE-TV a chance and stream via Chromecast or Apple TV. In our case, by the way, EWE really does provide the faster connection... I will also check out the other ideas. TobiasW., thanks for the tip, that actually sounds really interesting, especially because of the individually bookable channel packages like TV in the original language. To everyone: many thanks!

I would also like to join in sometime.

What do your TV installations look like?

I am currently faced with the question of whom to connect me and what I want to subscribe to.

If I take 100 Mbps internet + phone, I am already at €35 per month.

I wonder if the effort for satellite is still worth it, or if I should just take TV via cable as well.
