We will get a fiber optic connection (so far we have always had cable from Vodafone). We are very likely tied to the Vodafone fiber optic connection for at least 2-3 years until another provider is allowed to offer service to us.

I thought every internet provider had to offer at least one modem (could also be incorrect information).

But for us who have to buy everything new, wouldn't it make sense to take everything from Unifi? Like APs, POE switch, and router, right?

Hello,

I'm just online again and came across the thread.
This is what it looks like for me:

1x Fritz Box from DG
1x48-port Gigabit switch from TP Link
1x24-port Gigabit switch from TP Link
2 patch panels

1x 5-port POE for 3 Ubiqiti AC Lite POE access points (300 MBit) - one per floor centrally on the wall at about 2.30m height. Easily reaches the terrace.
1 port for the Doorbird.

After living here for a year now, I haven't had any outages or other problems.

Thank you

How satisfied are you with your Doorbird? Does it meet my requirements?

I am satisfied with the price/performance ratio. The configuration is a bit complicated, though. But once you get to grips with it, it works. The ringing can also be integrated into Alexa with an HTTP command, then a configured Echo rings. We have an Echo Dot in the stairwell for this. So you don’t need an additional chime. I haven't read the entire thread, what are your requirements?

I am looking for a video doorbell for our new building

The video doorbell should have an acoustic chime inside when (rung) (and possibly another chime retrofittable in the attic) and send the video signal to the registered phones (mine and my wife's) and possibly display on Amazon Echo (if we decide on that)

My question is, what type of video doorbell should we choose? POE is probably preferable, right?
WLAN (e.g. Ring or similar types) are only a last resort for retrofitting, right?

The doorbell must definitely not cause monthly costs through a subscription

I have also come across Doorbird in my search.
Are there any other alternatives that one should consider?

We also decided last week during the planning phase to have two "open" LAN cables come out of the wall instead of the doorbell. One at the front door and one in the hallway, both about 1.50 meters high. Everything then runs to a patch panel (with the other LAN cables from the house). The plan is to install the Metzler VDM10 there (you are not allowed to link it). It makes a solid, high-quality impression and seems easy to install. There is also a dedicated YouT*** channel from the provider where it is really explained for beginners :) Hope that we make a good choice with this.
