No, we haven't yet. If we have children someday, we will then put a tablet in the living room so they can use the doorbell or the Echo Show. Even though many are against a cloud-based doorbell, we have consciously decided on a video doorbell with cloud so that we receive notifications on our phones even when we are on the go and can talk to visitors or delivery people when we are away.

Of course, it depends on the floor plan, but our child would not run into the living room first when coming down from the upper floor, just to see who is standing at the door. However, I find the video function important precisely for the child – especially when he is home alone in the afternoon. That is why we have an indoor unit hanging in the hallway.

If the child is alone, they can also take the tablet upstairs.

In the hallway it would be pointless for us because we have glass in the front door and you would see that someone is at the indoor station, then you can take 3 more steps to the door :)

That’s why a classic indoor station makes no sense for us, we can only take one that sends the image to the phone/tablet or Echo Show

That’s why we chose the Ring, maybe also Eufy, we can still choose the exact model because all Wi-Fi doorbells are connected the same way

We also have one, but I only unlock it when he has his tech time. First, then, in kids mode.

But another note. 1.20m is too low for the camera. The recommendation is always around 1.40 - 1.5m.
Then you could also put the Ekey under the camera, even if they are separate devices.

Thank you for the note, the recommended installation height from the manufacturer for doorbells, e.g. Ring, Google Nest, Eufy (these are the most well-known), is 1.20m so that they work optimally. Maybe the camera on the WLAN doorbells is oriented differently and designed to hang lower. It might also be because these are basically retrofit solutions and the standard doorbell button is installed at 1.20m.

Can you also hang the Ring higher than recommended by the manufacturer?

at which position would you have installed the video doorbell? Red, blue, or green?

One should probably stick to the manufacturer's recommendations regarding the installation height, right?
