Video doorbell on which wall?

Hmm, I don't understand it :) The overhang is only 30 cm deep. How are you supposed to "walk further in front of the door and then look into empty space"? The red dot doesn't make sense to me or at least is associated with more disadvantages than advantages. If the visitor stands in front of the door, the camera would only capture them from the side and not very well at that!? If other people stand further to the right, you wouldn't see them at all ... Well.

I understand it as the doorbell contains the camera. And if you press the doorbell at the blue dot and then take one step forward, the doorbell won't capture you anymore. Best to have a battery-powered doorbell on the door ;) Otherwise, I would choose the red dot.

That was also my thought. Although 30 cm is of course not much, with one step forward you are no longer directly in the frame.

At my parents' place it is solved the same way, doorbell with camera on the side directly at the door. Of course, I am not there every day, but I observed it for a while because we wanted to find the ideal position for our house as well. It was mostly the case that the delivery person looked at the doorbell because of the camera and intercom, with their hand simultaneously on the door handle.

The battery does not need to be replaced, only charged via USB. Realistically maybe every 6 months.

We don’t want that either, the doorbell should be hardwired. We don’t want to have to think about charging the doorbell and during the time it’s charging, we would have no doorbell or would have to use a spare battery.

At the green spot, the doorbell is on the wrong side

The latter depends on which side your entrance is on. Ours is on the east side, so we don’t need a canopy, the 30cm roof overhang is sufficient. If the canopy is not already integrated into the house, I would wait and try it out.

Yes, the house entrance is on the east side. The roof overhang is approximately 2.20-2.50m high and 30cm deep. What would you say is now the optimal place for the video doorbell?

May I ask how far along you are with the construction? Is it possible to perhaps eliminate that strange corner to the right of the front door? Then a lot would sort itself out, I think.
